16th Middlesex of 100 Brigade, 33rd Division arrived in France in November, 1915 and on 4th January, 1916, after a period of trench instruction, they moved into the front line at Annequin North, close to Bethune and with battalion HQ at Beuvry. Here they remained until 14th January during which time they had 1 officer and 11 men killed and another 24 wounded. The worst day was 10th January when 7 men were killed, probably from shell fire, including Edward Tennant. |
